The NACOEJ/Edward G. Victor High School Sponsorship
Program provides opportunities for Ethiopian-Israeli high
school students to study at local academic high schools, to
join their classmates on educational field trips, and to participate
in extracurricular activities, while living at home with their
families during adolescence. Every year, some 1,300 high school
students receive sponsorships through this program.
High schools in Israel are not free. Parents
must cover the costs of books, transportation, lab fees, academic
school trips, gym clothes and more. Students who cannot afford
to live at home and cover school and transportation expenses,
are often sent to lower-level, state-subsidized boarding schools.
The donations we receive from sponsors cover a portion of
the required school fees, so that parents do not have to cover
the entire costs. The donations are sent directly to the schools
in order to cover tuition, school supplies, and other costs.

Since the inception of the NACOEJ/ Edward G.
Victor High School Sponsorship Program, thousands of Ethiopian-Israeli
pupils have been able to attend academic high schools in their
own communities and to live at home with their families. The
program has played an influential role in creating a pattern
of more and more Ethiopian-Israeli youth studying in neighborhood
schools, rather than attending distant and often low-level
vocational boarding schools.
Please help us to provide sponsorships for many
more Ethiopian-Israeli high school students on our waiting
list.
We will make a match between you and one or
more students whose special needs will be covered by your
gift, and send you a biography and photo of your student(s).
The cost to sponsor a student for the year is $350.
