CELEBRATING THE 18TH ANNIVERSARY
OF OPERATION SOLOMON,
THE MIRACULOUS RESCUE OF OVER 14,000 JEWS IN 36 HOURS On this historic NACOEJ mission to Ethiopia and Israel,
Mission participants followed in the footsteps of thousands of Ethiopian Jews as we travel from Gondar, the ancient home of Ethiopian Jews, to Addis Ababa, the modern capital of Ethiopia,
and then on to Israel!
In Ethiopia, we began our
historic journey by:
*visiting the new NACOEJ Jewish Day School in Gondar
*serving lunch to hundreds of Jewish school children
*participating in teaching adult Jewish studies
*visiting Jewish homes and the countryside
*meeting community leaders
*joining services in the simple community synagogue
*and much more

In Israel, we followed the ongoing journey of absorption by : *visiting new immigrants in an
absorption center
*reading with Ethiopian children in NACOEJ classes
*meeting Ethiopian high school and college students
*meeting community leaders, rabbis
and teachers
*visiting Operation Solomon
immigrants in their homes
*and much more We were joined by Shoshana Ben-Dor, NACOEJ Israel director, an internationally known expert on Ethiopian Jewish culture, religion and absorption issuess.
