18 years ago, on May 24th and 25th, the rescue mission Operation Solomon miraculously airlifted more than 14, 000 Jews from Ethiopia and brought them to Israel in 36 hours.

This year, when your class celebrates Israel’s independence, teach your students about the Ethiopian-Jewish community and the amazing efforts that brought them and still bring them to Israel.

Today, 18 years later, there are 120,000 Ethiopian Jews in Israel. Thousands have become an integral part of Israeli society. However, many Ethiopian-Jews are still struggling. A crucial factor is receiving an adequate education so that they can build a successful future for themselves.

NACOEJ, the North American Conference on Ethiopian Jewry, runs intensive after-school programs called Limudiah to enable elementary school Ethiopian children to achieve academic success.  Your students can be a part of this by taking action!
